A conference was held in Washington DC on 21st of March 2019 marking 2019 World Water Day themed “Supporting Women through Water!” sponsored by Global Water Challenge, USAID, United State Water partnership, ASPEN Institute, GEFT , Coca-Cola Africa Foundation and Global Water 2020 and several other public and private sector-led global water stakeholders.
The conference took place in the United States Embassy diplomacy house , Washington DC and was centered towards Global Call to Action on supporting women through water to achieve all SDGs programs on water. The event received global Women water advocates such as, the ambassador of USAID Bureau of Economic growth, Associate Director of UNICEF, Mina Guli, the Global Ultra Runner and founder of “thirst”, the African Union Ambassador for the 55 African countries, Founders of Global Water Challenge, Aspen Institute, under secretary for Global Affairs, GHAIN ,Emory University, UN- Habitat, WOFAN- Nigeria , UN- Water Partnership, The Aspen Institute, etc, etc.
Among the participants during the conference was Hajiya Salamatu Garba, WOFAN CEO.
With one voice, the participants echoed the targeted 2030 and urgent need of the transformation of policy and project implementations to ACTIONS at all levels , emphasizing that “every drop of water counts and it’s a people’s rights that must be given to them”.
