Opening speech by WOFAN ED, Hajiya Salamatu Garba Wofan, on the importance of improved technology to enhance groundnut productivity,
under the ICRISAT/USAID supported Groundnut scale up project in Mali, Nigeria and Ghana. The event took place at WOFAN conference hall on
Friday 6th of Jan. 2017
ABOUT 40 Males and female artisans drawn from 15 LGAS of Kano state are receiving a train the trainers (ToT) on maintenance and installation
of a groundnut Sheller fabricated by Institute of Agricultural research (IAR), Zaria for sustainability and upkeep of the technology. The machine
has a capacity to shell 50 bags of 100kg groundnut per day for sustainability.
With support and partnership with agricultural agencies such as KNARDA, Women took the center stage, to quench their thirst, on a technology
they have longed for in order to reduce drudgery, increase income and improve family nutrition.
A step down will be done in all the communities to benefit from these groundnut shelling machines that will be distributed to various centers by
ICRISAT and WOFAN.
